Presentation of the Second Volume of the Catalogue “Bulgarian Literary Modernism – A Collection by Rosen Petkov”

We are sharing with you moments from the presentation of the second volume of the catalogue “Bulgarian Literary Modernism – A Collection by Rosen Petkov”, accompanied by an exhibition, expert discussion, screening of the film “The Circles of Modernism”, and a cocktail reception.

📚 The event took place on 24 July 2025 in the emblematic hall of the National Student House – an architectural masterpiece in the modernist style, which impressively resonated with the spirit of the presented collection.

We thank all who attended and shared this special day, dedicated to a unique and long-collected archive of books and magazines that reflect the development of Bulgarian literary modernism from the late 19th to the mid-20th century.

📖 The catalogue includes:

  • 118 Bulgarian and 18 international titles from the collection of Rosen Petkov;
  • High-quality color images of the artifacts;
  • Detailed bibliographic information (authors, editors, illustrators, publishers, etc.);
  • Introductory article and a text on postmodernism by Dr. Eng. Rosen Petkov;
  • Limited edition of 300 numbered copies.

🎤 The discussion featured:

  • Dr. Toni Nikolov – Editor-in-Chief of “Kultura” and the magazine “Kultura”;
  • Prof. Albert Benbasat – writer, book historian, lecturer, and museum curator;
  • Assoc. Prof. Kalina Ivanova – Director of the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and lecturer;
  • Valentin Milev – collector;
  • Dr. Eng. Rosen Petkov – researcher, collector, and author of the catalogue.

A written greeting was also provided by the Minister of Culture, Marian Bachev.

🖼️ The exhibition featured some emblematic books and magazines from Rosen Petkov’s collection, including titles such as the magazine Novis, the magazine Vezni and various book editions by Vezni, The Iron Icons by Lamar, the magazine Kula, Kagsagsug retold by Geo Milev, Dilettante by Chavdar Mutafov, and many other rare editions.
